Geneva Summer Schools is proud to announce an intensive and interdisciplinary course offering for 2015 reflecting the best of the University of Geneva’s research, partnerships with international institutions, and privileged relationships with international and non-governmental organizations.

The Internet l@w summer school offers a unique opportunity to learn and discuss Internet law and policies issues with experts coming from leading institutions. The summer school is organized in the framework of the activity of the University of Geneva in the Geneva Internet Platform.

The Faculty includes leading experts from the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, the Geneva Internet Platform, the Internet Society, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Economic Forum (WEF), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as well as from other prestigious academic or governmental institutions and global Internet companies (such as eBay and Google).

For its first session (in June 2014), the Internet l@w summer school welcomed participants from very diverse background and countries including Argentina, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Lithuania and Ukraine.

Key Features of the Summer School:

  • Study Internet Law in Geneva, where the World Wide Web was born and where global Internet law and policy issues are debated.
  • Courses taught by a mix of academics, practitioners and representatives of global policy makers, international organizations and Internet companies who will share their expertise and discuss cutting edge Internet law issues with the participants.
  • Broad range of courses, including on-line privacy law, telecom and Internet infrastructure, intellectual property, antitrust, on-line content licensing, legal issues of social media and cloud computing, and much more.
  • Unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the course of an Internet law clinic and to discuss Internet law issues with Geneva-based global regulators and policy makers.

Credits: 6 ECTS (upon submission of a satisfactory research paper to be written after the completion of the summer school).

Students (preferably at the graduate level), academics and professionals who are interested by the complex challenges of Internet law.

TUITION FEES & DEADLINE

Regular fees: CHF 2'500. 

Early bird fees (until April 15, 2015): CHF 2'000.
 
Special conditions (i.e. reduction of fees) can apply upon request to participants from non-governmental organizations / international organizations / other non-profit institutions. Please indicate with all supporting evidence in the on-line application form.
